I’m Jullian — a Conversational AI Consultant and Solutions Architect with no tech degree and no traditional path into the industry.

I moved back to the UK to restart, and not long after, Covid hit. I spent that time answering phones, not knowing if I’d be made redundant. It was an unsettling, uncertain period — but it’s also what made the opportunity that came next feel like such a turning point.

I worked in Solutions Architecture for almost four years. It started as a Junior Zendesk Admin role that landed in my lap in early 2022 — my chance to move away from Customer Service and into something more technical.

Shortly afterwards, I found myself without any senior guidance, as the senior team member was no longer present. After only six months as a Junior, I had no choice but to become self-taught and learn through experience.

Before long, I was running an entire Zendesk platform supporting a large operations team across multiple European markets at one of the leading companies in its industry. The environment was complex, with advanced configurations and numerous integrations across systems such as AWS, Workato, Salesforce, and other internal platforms.

It wasn’t the perfect path, and there were plenty of challenges along the way. Some of the lows were genuinely difficult and came with steep learning curves. However, I would do it all again, because the knowledge, resilience, and competence I have today were built through those experiences. The highs taught me confidence, and the lows taught me capability.

Today, I work as a Technical Consultant specialising in Conversational AI and Solutions Architecture, helping companies design and implement AI-powered support systems using tools like Zendesk and Cognigy.

But askjullian isn’t just about the career wins. It’s about the real, unfiltered version of getting here — including the harder parts that don’t show up on a CV. I believe there’s real value in being honest about both: the technical skills that got me here, and the human side of building a career and a life at the same time.
